Clean History › Your browser records every website you visited, every search string you entered in search engines, information you entered into web forms, etc.

› Windows keeps tracks of documents and files you have just downloaded, saved and opened, programs you have run, etc.

› Different applications you use keep history tracks in order to provide more pleasant computer experience. E.g. Word and Excel keep information about documents you recently opened and worked with, Google Toolbar remembers the words that you have searched for, and so on.

› Even if you delete history files, remove them from your Recycle Bin and even format your hard drive all deleted files are easily recoverable as operating system does not really remove the file from the disk - it only removes the reference to the file from the file system table and it might be possible to recover it.

How to clear history

Clear history - a must-have tool for every PC user to completely delete history from your computer

To protect your privacy you should clear history from your PC. But getting rid of history tracks manually is much more difficult than you would think as history files are stored in many different locations and simple cleaning browser history, cache and cookies is not enough. Also some kinds of computer history can't be cleaned manually. And the worst thing - if you clear history files using 'Delete' button and even if you use 'Empty Recycle Bin' option, it doesn't clear history forever as only the references to your Internet history files are deleted but actual files are still kept on your hard drive.

To completely delete unnecessary history files, you should use special shredder software.
