Why you should clean the Address BarAddress bar is a text box used to enter website's address in browsers. Internet ExplorerIn Internet Explorer you can easily view the Address Bar history by clicking the down arrow on the far right side of the Address Bar text box.
To prevent others from seeing the history of websites you have recently visited or searched for you should regularly clean the Address Bar history.
How to clean Address bar history in Internet ExplorerInternet Explorer 9.0/8.0
Open Internet Explorer, select Tools and then Internet Options.
Open the General tab and under Browsing history click Delete.
Note: you may also access the Delete Browsing history using the Ctrl+Shift+Del combination or selecting 'Delete browsing history' from the tools menu
To clear the Address bar history automatically, check Delete browsing history on exit.
Check History and click on Delete.
To clean the Address bar history in Internet Explorer 7.0:
Select Tools and then Internet Options.
Open the General tab.
In the Browsing history area click the Delete button.
To delete the Address bar history, click Delete history and then click Yes.
Click Close and then click OK.
To clean Address bar history in Internet Explorer 6.x:
Go to Tools and select Internet Options.
Open General tab, click Clear history and then OK.
In Internet Explorer even if you clean the Address bar history manually, history index.dat file stores information which can show where you have been online. It can't be deleted manually as it is used by Windows all the time.
How to disable the Address bar history in Internet ExplorerYou can prevent storing the Address bar history by disabling the AutoComplete option for Browsing history:
Open Internet Explorer and select Tools
Then select Internet Options and open the Content tab
Click Settings under AutoComplete
Uncheck Address bar
The InPrivate Browsing feature available in the latest versions of Internet Explorer helps prevent Internet Explorer from storing information about your browsing session. This includes address bar history, cookies, temporary Internet files, and other data.
To turn on InPrivate Browsing, open the Tools menu and select InPrivate Browsing, or press the Ctrl+Shift+P combination
Internet Explorer will open a new window. To turn off InPrivate Browsing, just close this browser window.
FirefoxDepending on the selected options the Address bar could store the list of websites you have visited or the pages you have bookmarked or both of them. To view the Address bar history, press Ctrl + H that will open the History pane or click the down arrow on the right side of the text box.
How to clear the Address bar history in FirefoxFirefox 4.0/3.5
Press Ctrl + Shift + Del to open the Clear recent history window
From the 'Time range to clear' drop-down menu select how often you need to clean the Address bar history.
Then open the 'Details' menu and select Browsing and Download history and click 'Clear Now'
For Firefox 3.0
Open Firefox and select the 'Tools' menu
Then select 'Options' and open the 'Privacy' tab.
Under the Private area click 'Clear Now'.
In the 'Clear Private Data' window select the necessary items and click 'Clear Private Data Now'.

Select Tools, then Options.
Select Privacy and in the Private area click Clear Now.
In the Clear Private Data window put the check mark for Browsing history and click Clear Private Data Now.
How to make Firefox clear the Address bar history automaticallyIf you need to clear the Address Bar history every time you exit Firefox:
Open Firefox and click on the Tools menu
Open the Options menu
Click the drop-down menu next to 'Firefox will', choose 'Use custom settings for history' and check 'Clear history when Firefox closes'.
How to disable the Address bar history in FirefoxYou may set Firefox to never remember history. In this case Firefox will keep no record of your browsing history, downloaded files, items you have searched and data you have entered into web forms. Using the 'Never remember history' option works the same way as Firefox Private Browsing mode. Open Firefox and click on the Tools menu at the top of the Firefox window.
Open the Options menu and select Options
Click the drop-down menu next to 'Firefox will', choose 'Never remember history'.
The Opera address bar keeps all the web addresses that you have typed into it, which means that when you later begin typing letters into the address bar, previously typed addresses will pop up in a drop-down list as suggested websites. If you share a computer or just do not want other people to be able to track the websites you have visited on the Internet, you should clear the address bar history in Opera in order to preserve your privacy.

Open the Tools menu and select Delete private data
Click the Details button and select Clear history of visited pages, then click Delete
How to clean Address bar history in Opera 9.x:
Open the Tools menu and select Delete private data
Then click the Details button and select Clear history of visited links.
Click "Delete" button.
